Armistice Day & Remembrance Sunday Parade
Thatcham Town Council works closely with the Thatcham Branch of The Royal British Legion to organise the annual Armistice Day service held at the town’s War Memorial on 11th November. People gather at the War Memorial at 10.45am for the service and refreshments are provided at the Town Council Offices afterwards. Remembrance Sunday Parade
The Remembrance Sunday Parade is held on the second Sunday of November (the closest Sunday to Armistice Day). The Town Council organises the parade in conjunction with the Thatcham Branch of The Royal British Legion, Parade Marshalls and the Royal School of Military Survery, who are based at Denison Barracks.
A brief timetable for the morning is:
- 10.30am Parade leaves the Kingsland Centre car park
- The Parade continues through The Broadway, High Street and London Road (A4) to Brownsfield Road
- 10.58am Parade brought to attention at the War Memorial
- 11am Service at the War Memorial starts with the Last Post and 2 minutes silence
- The Parade reverses it’s route to The Broadway
- 11.30am Service at St Mary’s Church

Thatcham’s War Memorial
The War Memorial is set in a small garden at the junction of Brownsfield Road and London Road (A4). The garden and memorial are maintained by the Thatcham Memorial Hall & Playing Fields Foundation. To see details of the War Memorial please visit the West Berkshire War Memorials website.
