Time(s): 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Location: War Memorial
2018 is the centenary of the end of WW1 and this year Armistice Day coincides with Remembrance Sunday. The day will start with the annual Remembrance Parade through the town and the community is encouraged to come out and line the streets as members of the armed forces, the Royal British Legion, local dignitaries and youth groups parade from The Kingsland Centre, round The Broadway and up the High Street, where they will form up in the War Memorial Car Park for the Service of Remembrance. After the service the parade will continue to the Parish Church of St Mary’s via the same route.
The A4 will be closed between Park Lane and the Catholic Church from 10.30am until 12noon with through traffic being diverted to the north of the town via Tull Way and Floral Way and access to the Crownmead parade of shops will be maintained via Green Lane. There will be a rolling road closure through The Broadway and High Street during the parade out and upon its return to St. Mary’s Church lasting for approximately 10 minutes each and drivers are encouraged to use The Moors and Lower Way during those times. At the bottom of this page you will find a map of the route that you can download.
The JetBlack 1 bus services will be effected by the road closures, details of the amended services can be found at Reading Buses.
