Brownsfield Road, Thatcham, RG18 3HF

Jubilee Sensory Garden

A beautiful, tranquil space for everyone to enjoy.

Located in front of the Council Offices in Brownsfield Road, Thatcham Town Council manages the area on behalf of Turnfields Recreation Ground Charity, as Trustee of the charity.

Opened in 2022, the space provides opportunities to sit back and enjoy the serenity, or help yourself to the abundance of seasonal herbs or vegetables when they’re ready to harvest.

The garden has a focus on sustainability and is proudly pesticide-free with all produce being grown via organic gardening practices. You can check what is ready to pick via the chalkboard signs, and also take some inspiration from some sustainable gardening practices.

The garden was updated in the summer of 2025 with the addition of new planters and benches. This was made possible with a generous donation from local residents Lin Congerton and the late Peter Congerton. Rivar Sand & Gravel kindly donated the soil for the planters.

The Jubilee Garden Volunteers

The Jubilee Sensory Garden is a community garden for all to use and enjoy. Our aim is that the garden is maintained as it is enjoyed, by everyone, equally. Anyone is welcome to come along and get stuck in whenever they desire. The Jubilee Garden Activity Passport

Encourage your little adventurers to engage their senses and explore the sensory garden with our free activity passport!

The passport contains a rubbing plaque scavenger hunt, sensory finding activity, drawing prompts, and a wildlife watch activity. You don’t have to complete this in one day, you can come back time and time again to see what else you may discover.

You can collect your passport and crayon during the town council’s opening hours, but you can complete the activities at anytime.
