Friday, 7th October

 

Old Bluecoat School - Festival Launch!

10 a.m. - The Town Mayor, Councillor Phil Dray, will formally open Thatcham's fifth Festival

Music from Thatcham Festival Brass Ensemble and an invitation to view the Mixed Media Exhibition by local artists and photographers 

 

Thatcham Town Centre

7.30 p.m. - Ghost Walk with KATS - Starting at the Millennium Monument

a lighthearted tour around the town led by Mike Cole from KATS

"......even morre little known facts about the Ghostly History of Thatcham!"

 

Saturday, 8th October

Henwick Worthy

9 a.m. - 1.30 p.m. - Thatcham RFC Festival of Primary Schools Rugby

Trophies to be presented by the Town Mayor between 1 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.

2 p.m. - An introduction to Family History Research by Stephanie Steevenson

Would you like to learn how to trace your family tree and keep a record of your research? Here is a good place to start!

7.30 p.m. - 'Bronze Age Finds and more on Harts Hill'

an illustrated talk by Mark Collard, Archaeologist, from Cotswold Archaeology, the organisation responsible for the archaeological excavations at Harts Hill between 2001 - 2003

7 p.m. - 8 p.m. - Kennet Valley Dance Centre

Ballroom and Latin American dancing for adults. Open session, just drop in!

with Linda and Albert Moss, members of the Kennet Valley Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers.  Discover the interesting colours that can be obtained from natural dyeing material.

festuring Annharmonics, Barfield Handbell Ringers, Round House Music Group, Liane Hopkins with Phil Jardine, Kennet Opera, Suzy Smith, Thatcham Festival Choir and a song for Thatcham!

11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Festival Funfair with Billy Pelham's fairground rides

Kennet School

2 p.m. - 'A Leap, a Laugh and a Lunch'

A cabaret-style family show with modern, jazz and tap dancing by West Berkshire Ballet School, interspersed with comedy sketches by KATS.

Doors open 1.45pm.  Tickets at £10 and £8 concessions, to include a ploughmans lunch and first drink.

An event to coincide with the festival.

Nature Discovery Centre

2 p.m. - 4 p.m. - Bird Walks

led by Graeme Stewart, local ornithologist. A short or long option - option to leave after approximately one hour.
